Article I: The name of the organization shall be Asian Culture Club or "ACC."
Article II: The purpose of the organization shall be to provide an environment for learning about a variety of Asian Cultures as well as discuss anime and manga. In Addition, the club will provide a forum where members can exchange ideas and resources.
Article III: Membership shall be open to all South Plainfield High School Students and must comply with federal laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, disability, martial status, family status, affectional or sexual orientation. Also, in order to attain priviledges to go on trips or for Gold Card Recognition, members MUST BE active in fundraisers as well as attend meetings throughout the school year. For those of you who have conflicts with sports and cannot attend meetings, please consult with one of the Executive Board Members.
Article IV: The officers of the Executive Board shall be President, Vice President, and Treasurer.
Section I: The President will be responsible for overseeing all organizational meetings, tournaments, events, and seeing that these meet their stated goals. The President is responsible for the organization and its actions, and is its representative.
Section II: The Vice President will be responsible for overseeing the production of websites, advertisements, and the recording of information regarding club members. If the president leaves their position prioi to election, the Vice President will take over until a new president is elected.
Section III: The Treasurer shall be responsible for all financial transactions of the organization. The Treasurer shall keep current and accurate records and reports of the organization's financial matters and shall be jointly responsible with the President for approval of all financial transactions with or for the organization and its financial assets.
Article V: The officers will preside over the election and will chart the results unless a serving officer is a candidate and in such cases he/she shall not chart the results. Nominations shall be made from peer-nominations. Elections will be made by secret ballot, with a majority vote for election.
Section I: Nominations shall procede elections by approximately one or two weeks.
Section II: Any Student who wishes to run for position must be a former member of the club (students in sophomore, junior, or senior classes) and, must have participated in the club for at least 3 marking periods of that year. They must be willing to dedicate time and effort to the club.
Section III: A Student may only hold one office on the executive board at a time.
Section IV: If no valid candidates are elected for the particular office, the Executive board shall vote upon an individual to fill the vacancy within three weeks. If at that time no candidate can be found for the vacancy, one of the continuing executive board members shall serve in the vacancy duty until a valid candidate can be elected by the executive board.
Section V: Elections shall take place every year, and Executive Board members may serve more than one year of office if, and only if, they are re-elected.
Section VI: In the event of a suddent vacancy in any executive office, the remaining executive board shall appoint an interim officer until such time as a proper official election may be held for the office.
Article VI: An officer can be removed from office, through the process of impeachment. Impeachment proceedings may be brought against any executive officer of the club by any 25% of the members. Grounds for impeachment include negligence or abandonment of duty to the organization, severe infraction of SPHS policy while acting under the authority or representation of the club, or any action which intentionally and maliciously harms the club and/or any of its members. Such claims must be submitted in writing to the executive board no later than one week prior to a hearing in which all charges will be discussed and decided upon by the executive bard. The executive board shall inform the officer of any such charges immediately or as soon as possible of any such claims. The impeachment vote shall be taken at this meeting. The individual being considered for expulsion shall not have a vote and shall not be counted amongst the number of voting members present. A 2/3s vote of the voting members is requires to remove a member from office. If the President is the member being considered for expulsion, the Vice President shall run the proceedings. As soon as an officer is removed, another officer must be elected within one week to fill the position.
Article VII: Any member may propose an amendment to this constitution in writing, provided to the executive board at least one week prior to a vote by membership.
Article VIII: This organization shall abide by all applicable laws of the State of New Jersey and the United States.
Article IX: The organization shall abide by all applicable rules and regulations of SPHS.
Article X: There will be no dues for membership; however, if members wish to, they may donate.
