Dith Pran
"Killing Fields" surviror
(September 27, 1942-March 30, 2008)
Cambodian Gencocide
Dith Pran was a photojournalist best known ias a refugee and cambodian genocide survivor.
During the genocide he stayed to do his work. He did everything he can to save his family by bringing them to a safer place, but though in the end he was left behind, even after a few American friends tried to help him. He still managed to survive.
Every two years Dith Pran would come to South Plainfield High School to visit us students and share with us, "The Killing Fields", a movie about him going through the genocide. But sadly he had just pass away at age 65.
It is a truly remarkable movie and Dith Pran is an amazing person.
He once said, " Even if I am living pretty well now, I still clean my dish and bowl."
They say each grain of rice has seven gods.
In the end Dith Pran remained alive to see his family again.
Please Rest In Peace.
It was an honor to meet you.
